Thursday is a cloudy, rainy exciting day
Anja's homemade muesli began the day happily along with strong coffee. It was raining off and on and it had rained overnight. Herbert showed me the website where we watched Karin's flight progress. The plane is now scheduled to land about an hour after scheduled. The website, Flightradar, shows the movement of almost eleven thousand planes worldwide now in flight.
Herbert left to pick up a form from his physician referring him to the hospital for some kind of test. Anja vacuumed per her every other day routine, and she dusted. I might pick up the habit if my machine were as quickly and easily as is theirs.
Anja and I went grocery shopping at a couple of super markets. One she shopped the sales and the other she picked up the rest of the items on her list.
During that time Karin WhatsApped us that she had landed. Hurrah. After Anja and I were home we communicated frequently with Karin regarding getting herself to the long distance train station with Herbert viewing possible schedules on his desktop computer and I on my Handy with Karin. We finally received good news that she had a ticket on the fast ICE, inter city express train and time to get to the correct platform. We could relax and plan our time here until we needed to leave for the Cologne suburbs station, Deutz. Anja and Naila and I did a short walk in the light rain until we needed to leave for the train station.
Traffic was heavy on the Autobahn as well as construction. At the station there was also construction. Nevertheless, Herbert found a parking spot in front of the old station. To reach the correct platform we needed to go down two sets of stairs and then up one set. I am so glad that we had asked Karin to wait for us on the platform in the event we arrived there after she.
We were there to greet her with big long hugs. Another of the travel plans accomplished. I felt relieved. Although she said she was super tired, Karin remained awake during the ride back to Wermelskirchen and actively involved in the conversation.
Finally at home Naila greeted Karin with loud barks until Anja and Herbert told her that Karin was OK. A home tour with oohs and aahs took place.
Supper was grilled sausages and marinated chicken breasts and roasted seasoned potatoes and green salad and carrot salad. Dessert was ice cream. What a fabulous meal it was. We sat and talked until late. Karin went to bed, and I watched the first of the European championship women's soccer match between England and Austria. England won 1 to 0.
It was a wonderful day in spite of the rain.
Gute Nacht, Susan
