Sunday Brötchen and Walk in the Rain
The day began with a soft boiled egg in its own special china container accompanying the Brötchen and meat and cheeses and jams and laytees. Again the breakfast was memorable.
It was cloudy and cool and Herbert wondered if he could drive his Oldtimer Karman Ghia with Katin. Light rain began. Anja brought out family historical records in their special books. We teviewed family names and relationships. She also brought family photos in an album and in a box. We looked at them talked about the stories brought in by the the photos. A perfect activity hir a rainy weekend day.
Karin went to nap and Anja wanted to take Naila for her daily walk. Wearing rain jackets we walked locally up hill through neighborhoods and woods, a former rail line now a bicycle and pedestrian walking path which is very long and leads to nearby cities. We returned we and happy for having walked by a farm jouse which was offering Johannisberry jrlly and which Anja said she loves and wanted to return to purchase. That is what we did. We returned by car, and she purchased four jars snd felt excted about the homor system purchase.
We celebrated at home with lattees and lively conversation. Immediately Anja began making folded bread with garlic and onion and basil butter spread. It smells eonderful.
Herbert and I watched the end of today’s Tour de France whi h looked grueling with ipholl climbing in Seitzerlznd. Anja made leftover vegetables into a creative accompaniment to the spae ribs which were on the grill. The supper was fabulous, and our tine at the table together continued until we decided to go to bed, about 1015. Anja, Karin and I took Naila for a final walk before bedtime. Herbert helped us with ticket reservations in Berlin. We told stories and laughed and began to say words of thanks.
Packing seems strange. I feel in some way thst I am leaving home knowing that I will return.
Gute Nacht, Susan
