Saturday in Wermelskirchen
To begin is to remember two things from yesterday. Anja generously offered to do my laundry. We hung our wash outside on a flexible multiple bar drying rack in the sun. At the end of the day the clothes were dry and smelled so fresh.
The second item is about Anja and Naila and training. Anja states it must continue daily. Yesterday, for example, on our walk in Remscheid Naila did not respond as expected to her one word commands. Nevertheless Anja kept repeating the commands until Naila responded. One thing Anja does is stand still and turn her back to Naila until she comes to her as trained. That took time. Today, however, Naila was most responsive and she was rewarded with a treat. At this moment she is sitting still being combed.
We slept in. That felt good. Anja and I went to a local bakery and selected Brötchen for breakfast today and tomorrow. There was a variety of types and flavors which we enjoyed with homemade jams and a variety of thinly sliced meat including tongue which is very good and cheeses and cucumbers and tomatoes. It was delicious.
After breakfast we went to the veggie plot, above ground. Anja picked lettuce and chives for supper. She also picked dead leaves and threw them into her compost pile.
In the kitchen she made garlic mayonnaise and salad dressing for the salad and meat to be BBQ'd this evening. She also made a dough with three types of flour for bread which was served at supper this evening and was delicious. She also vacuumed her floors, bare tile and carpets which she says she does every other day.
Herbert went to a gathering of former work colleagues, and we and Naila walked around the Remscheid woods and fields and reservoir, the Talsperre. The hour walk was wonderful
We sat outside in the sun, I read the local newspaper and even watched a portion of today's Tour de France. I also enjoyed sitting in the lounge chair while watching the clouds.
Anja is the family BBQ'er. We had lamb and beef pieces which Herbert picked up on his weekly trip to the meat shop. Homemade sauces, garden salad with freshly homemade bread. I wanted the meal to last all evening.
Herbert tried to get a flash drive of their 2003 honeymoon trip to America to communicate with the TV. With no success he went to their office to some more research. Anja and I looked at photos of her old home in Remscheid. Later we three sat outside, watched fireflies and clouds and the moon until our beverages were consumed.
It is 1115. Gute Nacht, Susan
