Saturday Brötchen and Irma
Saturday began with a trip into Wermelskirchen to purchase Brötchen for breakfast Saturday and Sunday as well as meat for the breakfasts and for grilling Sunday. We returned with a shopping bag full of wonderful food. Breakfast with Brötchen, jams, cheeses, and meat and lattes was memorable.
Now it was time to launder our clothing. Anja and Herbert have a chute from their bedroom into a basket in the laundry room. While the laundry was washing Anja and I took on a walk into Wermelskirchen to the garden store for me to purchase an orchid plant to bring to Irma for supper. We made it back without incident.
The laundry was ready to be hung outside on the flexible and foldable rack. Clothing dried in the sun and breeze while we took a brief walk to the cemetery with Naila, for she needed an extra walk before the evening driving and hour in the car to Irma's home and staying quietly by us in the restaurant. Karin viewed Eva and her family graveside as well as the areas where soldiers from the first and second world wars are buried.
We left in the rain for Irma's apartment in the town of Hattingen. It rained off and on during the ride. On the Autobahn traffic seemed to fly on the unlimited mile rate. We arrived safely and were warmly welcomed by Irma. Her apartment has outside stairs which have a lockable door. Kitchen is compact and user friendly. Her dining and living area is also flexible. There we sat in a circle and shared two bottles of champagne and nuts and potato chips and chocolates filled with a liquor. Irma has a large glassed in terrace. She has lots of flowering plants there and throughout her table. Of course Irma gave treats to Naila who was excited to get into Irma's apartment and into her kitchen for treats. She knows that she will gets treats and hugs from Irma.
The restaurant, The Twelve Apostles, allowed us to sit inside with Naila lying quietly by our table. I had an appetizer of seasoned and cooked mushrooms pieces. My meal was a rumpsteak with fresh vegetables and grilled potato slices. I could not finish it. The others had similarly delicious appetizers and main courses. More champagne and wine was served. We shared an Apfelstreudel for dessert along with an after dinner sweet wine. Karin knows what it is.
We stayed three hours and talked just about every interesting topic. Back at Irma's apartment we looked at her new BMW and sat a bit on her terrace and talked some more.
We rode home with happy feelings and went straight to bed. It was 1100 PM.
Gute Nacht
