Relaxing Sunday in Wermrlskirchen
Anja awakened to join her and Herbert in face time with their grandson Henry and his parents. He is a new two year old and spoke German than I. I am glad to have participated in the family event.
Breakfast was outside on the terrace with a soft boiled egg in its own container and eaten with the top removed. Brötchen and jams and meats and cheeses and tomatoes and cucumbers made the meal complete.
Anja then dressed to ride her electric bike around the hills in the area, and Herbert and I kept in his 1961 Karman Ghia for an Oldtimer car and motorcycle meet. This weekly event is held for a couple of hours each Sunday. People drive in and out, find a place to park their vehicle and then wander around and talk with other people about their vehicles. Herbert's vehicle was the only Karman Ghia we saw. There were several US and UK makes as well as vehicles, large snd small from other European countries. My favorite was a VW camper with pop top. I enjoyed the experience. Our way hone was through the country and we stopped at a country eatery and veggie and fruit stand and bakery. There Herbert purchased a few pieces of apple tart and cheesecake to share with their friend Monika early afternoon.
At hone Anja shared her happy experiences riding 24 kilometer. She also received a phone call from Monika who said her daughter just tested positive for the Corona virus and needed to quarantine. So, we three ate most of the tarts.
With the evening available, Anja and I went to the Remscheid reservoir again and walked the lower and more shady path with Naila. She was very well behaved per her training by Anja, sounds dogs, people, and bikes. It was wonderful outside in the warmth and cool air, near the water, and in the green woods.
The remainder of the day we watched a bit of the Tour de France and sat in the sun enjoying the outdoors. Later Anja made a supper of leftovers from suppers the past two days. Of course we sat on the terrace.
Herbert helped me accomplish purchasing Karin's and my train ticket to Berlin on the 11th and researching our tram rides to our hotel. We also watched the evening news.
Conversations today covered Herbert's health issues as well as the high cost of living and unequal retirement and taxation in the country depending on where one had worked. I have a better understanding of each and feel so glad that Herbert is receiving very good medical care. It is now 11 PM.
Gute Nacht, Susan
