Friday First Full Day Together with Anja and Herbert

It was muesli for me and a long- awaited Brötchen for Karin, watching Naila eat her breakfast very fast and enjoying coffee together, all a very happy beginning to Karin's first full day here. To get from our bedroom to our bathroom we needed to step over sleeping Naila.  Karin told me she awakened at 3 AM, came downstairs and wrote on her blog until she became sleepy again, around 530 AM. Jet lag is expected.

Herbert left for a PT apointment in Remscheid and we went to the Wermelskirchen outdoor market and purchased some fresh vegetables for the supper Auflsuf, veggies and sauce on top of macaroni noodles, covered with grated cheese and baked.

Our errands complete, Herbert came home and we left with Anja and Naila for downtown Remscheid. Anja had a PT appointment and Karin and I walked the major pedestrian street, Alleestrasse, and bought some fresh red peppers and strawberries from the street market. We saw a group gathered around the city hall, Rathaus, most likely celebrating a wedding. We visited the Alleecenter, the city mall and returned to the car to meet Anja. That was good timing.

At home we had a coffee latte. Herbert researched where I could look for Remscheid souvenirs.  So, while Karin took a nap Anja and I went back to Remscheid to find souvenirs.  They were in the room behind a cafe and Bierstube.  I selected several. On the way home we stopped at Heidi's animal food store to purchase more cans of wet food for Naila as well as some treats and conversation with Heidi. She is the mother of one of the new co-owners of the old family house. Anja also bought her weekly lottery ticket a few doors down from Heidi's.

Supper consisted of many vegetables cut up and placed over cooked macaroni noodlesand covered with grated fresh cheese and homemade creamy sauce and baked for a half hour We ate almost the entire amount, it was so delicious.

Herbert then made a fire in their small wood-burning metal container. It sits on the ground, warms those around it and the ashes can be emptied into the compost when cool. We enjoyed well into the darkness as well as enjoyed watching the German women's soccer team defeat the Danish team in the first round of the European soccer championship.  We also watched the end of the day's Tour de France bicycle race. I found both very fascinating.

Gute Nacht, Susan
