A New Week Begins in Wermelskirchen

With the homemade muesli breakfast the week began happily. Fresh oatmeal flakes, sunflower seeds, another teaspoon of seeds, one banana, dried prune and apricot pieces, walnuts, almonds, and other nuts, homemade yogurt, and a little milk, Anja let the mixture sit for ten minutes before we began eating.  It was delicious.

We then went outside. Anja cut back dead flowers from bushes in the front.  I picked up the material and placed it into a large plastic container.  When the battery hand shears needed recharging we left for Remscheid to do a little shopping. Herbert did his daily physical therapy exercises. He then went grocery shopping which he enjoys and Anja doesn't enjoy. She wrote the list on her cell phone, i.e. Handy, he saw the list on his Handy because the two devices are linked somehow. When he had completed the shopping he wrote on that list page that he had purchased everything. Slick.

Shopping at the Allee Center Anja point out the number of mall shops which were now closed. The new ones are mainly dollar store type business. She look for a particular kind of flip flop which she did not find, and I bought a light cotton blouse.

At home we three shared leftover apple torte and cheesecake purchased yesterday to share with their friend Monika who couldn't come due to COVID-19 in her family. The leftovers were delicious.  I also drank water with a frozen piece of cantaloupe acting like an ice cube. By the way, Anja wants to drink her beer cold. Therefore she puts ice cubes in it.

Anja and I went out front again. She cut back some hedges and I picked up the materials and put them into the big tub which Anja dumped into their composted, I think.

She left for her group therapy session, Herbert continued working on their flash drive of their visit to America in 2003, trying to get the various pieces to communicate with each other. I went outside to sit in the Näppchen chair and watch the clouds float by. This is relaxation.

Herbert cooked spaghetti, and he had out a glass jar of pesto.  When Anja returned we all took some spaghetti and the spooned some of the pesto sauce into the noodles. This homemade sauce was a gift from a friend.  Anja stated that she may make pesto sauce this weekend when Karin is here. She searched more recipes on her Handy and suggested she make chard quiche with the vegetable from her garden. I know that Herbert plans to bake a cake from scratch tomorrow, creative cooks and bakers live here.

After supper I had a satisfying phone call with Premilla. Then the three of us here watched the video of Anja and Herbert's trip to America in the Fall of 2003. The film work was wonderful, and was fun reliving memories of this trip with them. Six hours of filming they condensed into one hour. I saw many sights in the western US which I had not seen in person.

Yikes, it is 1130. Gute Nacht, Susan
